“Shiksha Daan”

“Shiksha Daan” is project with the goal of educating and empowering Girl Child who is living below poverty line and cannot afford academic education.

Girls are the most vulnerable group who face unique barriers to fulfilling their potential due to a number of gender-based inequities. A lack of resources and status means girls do not have the means to afford basic education and receive resistance from families wary of women’s ambition and independence, or reliant on their labour at home. Without access to education, training and empowerment, their opportunities of improving their living conditions and self-esteem, as well as create an identity for they are greatly reduced

Anjali Dodiyar Meena 15 – year – old, a 9th class student studying at home. Due to the COVID pandemic Schools were shut and classes were conducted online, unfortunately no one is Anjali family has smart phone, due to that she could not attend online classes, lucky since 1st week of December schools are open and she was exited to go back to school, but the reality was hard for her, other students from her class could attend online class and they are advanced in the study. But Anjali is not letting this to stop her from studying; she’s working hard to catch up with the rest of her classmates with the help from her teachers and sister. Education in India took a massive blow due to the pandemic and the resultant lockdowns. Even as the unlock periods allowed a little of re-opening and remote learning was established as an alternative, bulk of schools remain closed in India. This Project aims to address these issues and empower vulnerable girls. BGC Foundation with project “Shiksha Daan”, encourage the Donors to contribute for the academic education of Girl child who are from economically weaker sections, improve their income-generating capacity, confidence and sense of self esteem and to break the cycle of poverty for them and their families. The project also benefits local women mentors who are empowered as agents of change.



BGC Foundation’s role in “Shiksha Daan” will be to continue to develop capacity beyond their area of expertise, quality vocational training for vulnerable women and girls. BGC Foundation will deliver the project on the ground, whilst improving its capacity for project monitoring and evaluation to make the projects scalable and sustainable.

INR 300 can fund a month’s school fees for one student. INR 3600 can fund a year's school fees for one student.
